Something went wrong with turn signal canceling in up to 12,221 2022 Jeep Cherokees, recalled on March 28, 2024. FCA US, LLC, estimates that 10% of the recalled vehicles, around 1,200, don’t signal turns properly.

It looks like the problem may be a malfunction of a feature required by law in the U.S.

If you get annoyed by driver’s who obliviously drive down the road with a turn signal blinking away, you may take a shine to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) 108, which requires cars sold in the U.S. to be equipped with self-cancelling turn signals.

FMVSS 108 means U.S. drivers can hit their turn signals, make their turns and then worry about the road ahead instead of having to remember to turn off the turn signal manually.

But driver’s shouldn’t have to fight their turn signals to keep them on until they’re able to turn.

Dealers have been informed already, but consumers won’t be alerted until mid-May.

If you purchased or leased one of the affected vehicles in California, you may be entitled to relief.
